Grade 2: HOLIDAYS AND INTRODUCTION TO TORAH. Grade 2 students study the holidays through ritual, symbols, history and tradition. The relevance of the holidays to today’s world is stressed: caring for the environment and responsibility toward others. The holidays are presented as vital and ongoing parts of the students’ lives. In addition, second graders begin their study of Bible stories. Biblical personalities from Adam and Eve to Moses are presented through historical, religious, and ethical viewpoints. Students will continue their exploration of mitzvot, sacred obligations. They are also introduced to the land and people of Israel.
