Being a part of youth group was a formative experience for me. Both locally and regionally, being involved in social events, worship experiences, tikkun olam, travel and just spending time in the youth lounge with my friends are some of my fondest memories. It is also my youth group friends that I have maintained friendships with into adulthood, and now our children are playmates.
This is why I love my job so much. Being able to facilitate these experiences for the next generation is so extremely important to me, it has truly been a pleasure watching PROVTY grow over the past few years.
And we are just getting started!
From this year’s kick-off Shabbat at the beach, to having 18 teens at the NFTY/NFTY678 Fall Conclavette (more than any other Temple Youth Group), to welcoming 4 new members onto our Leadership Board, PROVTY’s enthusiasm is palpable. We have services and social events every month (join us at Confreda Farm’s Fall Fest on Oct. 27 th !) in addition to regional NFTY events (ask me about signing up for December Institute!). There are so many ways to get involved!
This February, for the first time, we are running a Social Justice trip to the Deep South with Etgar-36, a touring company that runs civil rights journeys with a Jewish lens. We’ll be traveling to Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma and Birmingham to visit the important sites and meet people integral to our country’s experiences surrounding civil rights. For more information, email me.
Whether you are looking to have a new experience or just make a new friend, come see what PROVTY is up to. They used to say we had quality over quantity, but now…we have both.
